Chiplun is a city and a municipal council in Ratnagiri districtin the state of Maharashtra, India. Located on the Mumbai–Goa highway (NH-17) in western India. The city is about 320 km south of Mumbai in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. It is a fast developing city in Konkan with a strong cultural background. The name Chiplun means "The abode of Lord Parshurama."
Geography:-
The city lies on the banks of the River Vashishti. To the east of the city lie theWestern Ghats and to the west lies Guhagar. The region has a tropical climate. The 'rainy season' — the monsoon lasts normally from June till October. The Koyna Hydroelectric Power Project Stages III and IV are situated in Chiplun.
The City:-
The city has its own theatre named Pooja Theatre (Single Screen). A municipal council looks after the civic needs of the city. United English School, Paranjape Motiwale High School, Maharashtra High School-Chiplun, Haji Dawood Ameen High School-Kaluste and D.B.J. College are the some of oldest educational institutes in the city catering the need for the taluka
Since the city is on a busy National Highway, it also caters to travellers en route to Goa and Mumbai. It is also a junction for those travelling to the Dabhol (a shipyard near Chiplun).
It is a land of traders; it trades in groceries, kokams (red colour fruit) and kokam juices. It also has a great crop of mangoes as it falls in Ratnagiri district which is very well known for King of Mangoes, Alphonso.
Chiplun is famous for its hotels and known as tourist place. The waterfall known as Savatsada, attracts the eyes of tourists in months of June and July.

1.Karanjeshwari Temple, Govalkot
This is the Kuladaiwat for all the Konkanastha Brahmins with the Surname PATWARDHAN.
2.Koyna Dam , Koynanagar
The Koyna Dam is the largest dams in Maharashtra, India. It is a rubble-concrete dam constructed on Koyna River which rises in Mahabaleshwar, a hillstation in Sahyadriranges. It is located in Koyna Nagar, Satara district, nestled in the Western Ghats on the state highway between Chiplun and Karad.
The main purpose of dam is to provide hydroelectricity with some irrigation in neighboring areas.Today the Koyna Hydroelectric Project is the largest completed hydroelectric power plant in India having a total installed capacity of 1,920 MW. Due to its electricity generating potential Koyna river is considered as the 'life line of Maharashtra'.
3.Nehru Smriti Udayan, Koynanagar
Nehru Smriti Udyan is an ideal gateway to look at the full view of the Koyna Dam and 50 km long Shivasagar Lake. There are many sweet water fishes at this udyan and is situated next to the Koyna reservoir.
4.Pandavaas Caves, Chiplun:
There is a gigantic well built with laterite rock on the way to Datta Mandir. It is called as the "Pandava caves" and is believed to be built by the Pandavas.
5.Sawatsada Water Falls, Farshi Titha(Pedhe):
The Sawatsada is a waterfall in the premises of Parshuram on the Mumbai-Goa highway. It is a favorite holiday spot during monsoons.
6.Vashisthi Darshan (Visava Point), Parshuram:
There are numerous other beautiful locations in Parshuram like the Vashishthi Darshan. Be there to enjoy it !!!

In this village there is a well known temple of Bhagwan Parshuram because of it this village got this name. Vehicles can reach up to the temple. One can reach here by climbing 'Pakhadi' through peth map area from Chiplun. Tourists who want to enjoy natural beauty of this area should reserve some time during the trip.
10.For Trekking Nageshvari Temple(Choravne):
This is a very beautiful place in these valleys. this is place of lord Shiva in the ranges of Sahyadri.
